Alternative Kitchens were excited to be chosen by Dinner Twist to design and install their test kitchen for their new headquarters in Canningvale, WA.
Dinner Twist, owned and managed by husband and wife team Chris and My Tistrand, are a food box provider, offering their customers healthy and delicious dinners, along with step-by-step recipes, delivered to their home. Their service takes the worry out of “what’s for dinner” and eliminates the customer’s weeknight grocery shopping and meal planning.
Chris explained “As we were relocating our meal box business, we were eager to get a new test kitchen built at our new HQ. This was the first time in the history of the business where we had the space and means to build the kitchen we always wanted for Dinner Twist.”
Each week the Dinner Twist team create an exciting set of recipes based on fresh seasonal, local produce and this meant they needed a hard-working kitchen which was durable and functional but at the same time great to look at.
“Cooking is at the heart of what we do so a beautiful kitchen for photos and videos was a must!”
Working alongside our client, Alternative Kitchens created a design which allowed for useable space, functionality and at the same time a kitchen that was aesthetically pleasing too.
“We consulted many kitchen suppliers but felt that their approach was a bit too mainstream for us so once we got talking to Alternative kitchens, we felt that our vision could actually come to life. They took the time to understand our requirements while bringing their expertise and experience in to the mix.”
The design of the Dinner Twist kitchen contained open shelving to enable its users to easily get the equipment they needed. The practical storage solutions included an open pantry, space for a large commercial refrigerator and freezer as well as including two cooking and preparing stations to allow for two people to be test cooking at the same time.
The benchtops in stainless steel were chosen for their durable qualities as well as their industrial look, whilst the concrete splash backs completed the industrial style along with the polished concrete floors for ease of cleaning.
The kitchen cabinetry chosen by Dinner Twist (Laminex Impressions Honey Elm woodgrain) added texture and softness to the sleekness of the stainless steel and this was balanced with the dark grey tone of the internal shelving material (Laminex Nuance).
The combination of these different materials resulted in a kitchen which took on an industrial feel whilst maintaining the qualities and warmth of a homely kitchen.
We couldn’t be happier with our new kitchen. It’s spacious, functional, efficient yet lovely to look at. We love how it impresses visitors as well and it reflects how serious we are about cooking. It’s incredibly practical in it’s layout and we love the concrete look with industrial appliances mixed with an elegant kitchen”.
